Man Cleared Of Rape Released
Man Cleared Of Rape Released
08/01/2010 -- A man who officials said was wrongfully convicted of aggravated sexual assault 27 years ago was released from prison on Friday.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office said DNA tests and an intensive investigation found that Michael Anthony Green, 44, did not commit the 1983 crime.

He was supposed to be released on Thursday, but his attorneys said Green was too emotional and angry to appear before a judge for a bond hearing.

Green was emotionless during a hearing on Friday. Visiting Judge Mike Wilkerson ordered Green be released on $500 bond.

When Green was released, he thanked the district attorney's office and his attorney for pushing for his release. He said there's one thing he wants to do.

"Live life," Green said.

Green said he lived life one day at a time while behind bars for a crime he did not commit.

"That's how I lived -- day by day, trying not to think about my situation -- doing what I did, get up in the law, try to find me a way out."

Green said he studied law in prison to find a way to prove his innocence.

He clutched a photo of his mother as he spoke to reporters outside the courthouse. She died last year, but he said her support helped him survive.
